Hey there! I'm Amy.
I get it, its freakin’ hard to figure out all the things we can do and transform that into a life filled with joy. So much gets in the way; procrastination, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, money, personal life, being an introvert (gets me everytime)…the list is endless, and we all have our own list.
We all need our own redemption story. Here’s mine!
As I think about writing the content so you can learn more about me, what continually keeps coming up is the fact that I dropped out of college when I was 19. Not only did I drop out, I had no idea how important it was to actually withdraw from the classes I stopped attending. The struggle was huge. I just stopped going to class, which resulted in a basement level GPA that would smack me in the face 25 years later.
I left college because there were many more important things to do than be sitting behind a desk. I had a dancing school to open. Dance was a huge part of my life growing up, it was where I found a felt sense of safety. Dance, and the entrepreneurial bug I had combined well together. Over the course of the next 15 years, I grew one of the most successful dance studios in Eastern PA. With a staff of 9 and 450 students, the joy I felt every day was contagious. Making a difference in kids lives, and helping them lean into their own amazingness fed my soul.
Once my kids where born, my priorities shifted greatly and I wanted to be with them in the evening. I closed my dancing school and turned my hobby into another entrepreneurial passion, being a real estate broker. I loved the art of the deal, and helping people with one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
Are you sensing a theme here?
In my mid forties, I could not escape the nagging call to become a therapist. Helping people has been a way of life for me. When my own personal healing work intersected with my genuine deep sense of empathy, boom…no choice but to return to finish my undergrad degree. Oh yeah, I also had to clean up the GPA mess my 19 year old self had left behind for me. Then it was a quick trip through grad school that led to opening (and quickly filling) my private practice as a trauma therapist.
THE STRUGGLES
The pandemic offered a wonderful opportunity to become a consultant and trainer which brought me full circle to the place I love the most; teaching, mentoring and inspiring.
Along the way, I struggled, as we all do. Chris and I got divorced and I had a stint of being on my own with two amazing kids who had lofty goals for their emerging adult life. Chris and I found our way back to our shared love for each other, and reunited years ago. We love building ideas, concepts and dreams together.
It's time for something different. It’s time to allow our entrepreneurial spirits to soar and our dreams to become a reality, at the same time we experience abundant joy. No longer is there room for deferring joy. It’s time to learn a different way to work in our profession and engage our brains.
I KNEW I wanted to do something different.
